Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry – The ATSDR is an agency for U.S. Department of Health and Human  Services whose mission is to prevent exposure and adverse human health effects and diminished quality of life associated with exposure to hazardous substances from waste sites, unplanned releases, and other sources of pollution present in the environment

American Industrial Hygiene Association – The AIHA promotes, protects and enhances industrial hygienists and other occupational health, safety and environmental health professionals in their efforts to improve the health and well-being of workers, the community, and the environment

American National Standards Institute – ANSI administers and coordinates the U.S. voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system

Bureau of Labor Statistics – The BLS produces statistics on employment and unemployment; consumer expenditures; prices and living conditions; wages and employee benefits; productivity and technological changes in U.S. industries; projections of economic growth, the labor force, and employment by industry and occupation; and occupational injuries and illnesses

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – The CDC is a part of the Department of Health and Human Services that collects health data standards, scientific data, surveillance, health statistics reports, and laboratory information to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury and disability

Consumer Product Safety Commission – CPSC is an independent federal regulatory agency that helps protect the public against unreasonable risks of injuries and deaths associated with consumer products

Employment and Training Administration – the mission of the ETA is to contribute to the more efficient and effective functioning of the U.S. labor market by providing high quality job training, employment, labor market information, and income maintenance services primarily through state and local workforce development systems

Environmental Protection Agency – The EPA monitors quality of air; quality of drinking, surface and ground water; ecosystem status; and the introduction of toxic or hazardous substances into the environment. It conducts research and studies to provide baseline data and to evaluate and support environmental monitoring systems

Laborers’ Health and Safety Fund of North America – The LHSFNA mission is to protect health and safety of laborers on the job while enhancing productivity and curtailing costs for LIUNA signatory contractors. Promote and improve general health and wellness needs of laborers and their family members on and off the job. The investigation and analysis of issues that affect the health and safety of LIUNA members at work and the quality of life of laborers and their families at home and in retirement

Laborers Learn – Affiliated with the Laborers-AGC Education and Training Trust Fund. Provides comprehensive education and training programs to individual LIUNA members and organizations. Mesotheliona Center – Mesothelioma is a deadly form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Occupational exposure to asbestos is one of the most common forms of exposure. Many of the people who come in contact with asbestos in their workplace have contracted a range of different health problems from their asbestos exposure. These health problems include the debilitating condition, asbestosis and, more importantly, malignant mesothelioma.

Mine Safety and Health Administration – MSHA enforces compliance with mandatory safety and health standards as a means to eliminate fatal accidents; to reduce the frequency and severity of non-fatal accidents; to minimize health hazards; and to promote improved safety and health conditions in the nation’s mines. MSHA carries out the mandates of the Mine Act at all mining and mineral processing operations in the U.S., regardless of size, number of employees, commodity mined, or method of extraction

National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health – NIOSH is an agency established to help assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by providing research, information, education, and training in the field of occupational safety and health. NIOSH is charged with the testing and certifying of respirators

New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health – NYCOSH is a non-profit coalition of 200 local unions and more than 400 individual workers, physicians, lawyers and other health and safety activists all dedicated to the right of every worker to a safe and healthful job. Part of a nationwide network of 25 union-based safety and health organizations

New York State Department of Labor – NYSDOL works as a primary advocate for job creation and economic growth through workforce development. NYSDOL oversees state worker protection programs, including enforcement of health and safety regulations in the public sector, state labor laws and federal statutes related to working conditions, wages and hours, and laws related to Public work. DOL offers a variety of services designed to help businesses find workers and people find jobs

New York State Laborers’ Health and  Safety Fund – NYSLHSF fosters safety in highway and building construction; protects members engaged in the environmental trades; helps employers meet, and often surpass, government safety and health standards; heightens employee and employer awareness of various diseases and health risks that workers face; and works in conjunction with NYS LECET and the NYS Laborers’ PAC to encourage legislation that promotes safe workplace practices

Occupational Safety and Health Administration – OSHA establishes protective standards, enforces those standards, and reaches out to employers and employees through technical assistance and consultation programs. OSHA has approximately 2100 inspectors, plus compliant discrimination investigators, engineers, physicians, educators, standard writers and other technical and support personnel spread out over more than 200 offices throughout the country

U.S. Chemical Safety Board – the CSB is an independent federal agency whose mission is to prevent industrial chemical accidents and hazards; determine root causes and issue safety recommendations to government agencies, as well as, companies, labor unions, trade associations, and other organizations

U.S. Department of Energy – the DOE protects the environment by providing a reasonable resolution to the environmental legacy of the “Cold War” and by providing for the permanent disposal of the nation’s high-level radioactive waste
